Once your order is submitted or is canceled, a temporary authorization hold is placed on your debit or credit card. Please note that these holds are not charges.
Your financial institution holds these funds in anticipation of the order charge. The order charge will not be processed until your order ships. In the event of an order cancellation, you will not be charged.
When an order is shipped or canceled, City Gear notifies your financial institution to have the hold removed from your account. City Gear Customer Support is unable to remove authorization holds for you.
Most holds expire within 3-5 business days, but it could take up to 30 days for the hold to be removed.
If you self-cancel your order you will not be charged for the cancellation. An authorization hold for the full amount of your canceled order and will remain on the account until it expires. How long it takes for an authorization hold to fall off your account is determined by your financial institution.

If payment was authorized with a debit/check card, your statement may reflect the charges. In that case, funds will be released by your financial institution usually between 3 to 5 days, but could take up to 30 days. Credit card purchasers will still see a payment authorization hold on their credit card for up to 30 days. This hold will be automatically removed after that time period. If you have any issues, please contact your bank.
If you used a Gift Card or Digital Gift Card to pay for your order, you will receive a new Digital Gift Card. You will receive an email containing a new code within 2 business days.
Sales tax will be charged in accordance with applicable state and local laws. All taxes collected by City Gear are remitted to the proper taxing jurisdictions.
Taxes indicated on your order confirmation are only an estimate. Actual tax due will be charged at the time of shipment based upon applicable state and local sales tax law. Orders may be fulfilled from multiple locations across the U.S.
Generally, the tax due on your transaction is based on the state laws of the delivery location.
In states with origin-based tax laws, the tax due on your transaction is based on the fulfillment location that shipped your order, instead of your delivery location. These states include Arizona, California, Illinois, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia.
For states imposing sales or use taxes, your purchase may be subject to use tax unless it is specifically exempt from taxation. Your purchase is not exempt merely because it is made over the Internet, nor is it exempt merely because City Gear did not charge tax. Many states require purchasers to report taxable purchases not taxed and to pay taxes on those purchases. Details of how to do so may be found on the websites of your respective taxing authorities.

If your City Gear gift card does not have a card number and PIN on the back, you cannot check your card balance or use your card to make purchases online.
